The Festival and the MoliseCinema association were born in 2003 with the aim of bringing cinema back to the small towns, especially in Molise, an italian region where the number of movie theaters is extremely small.

The Festival aims to promote the latest and most innovative works of the italian and international cinema, encouraging young authors and new ways of expression, which are especially welcome.

During the past six editions the Festival has offered to its audience a very wide programme (feature and short films, documentaries, events, concerts), welcoming a large number of guests as actors, directors, producers and professionals of the cinema industry.

MoliseCinema wants to claim the right to enjoy cinema of the small italian towns, a right stifled for decades by the cultural domination of television and by the distribution policies which favour large urban areas and multi-screen cinemas.

MoliseCinema promotes the institution of the “Molise Film Commission” and, with the festival section "Filming Molise”, it aims to make the most of Molise as a location for the production of films and other audiovisual works.

Moreover, the association organizes reviews, screeenings, meetings, exhibitions and events connected with the culture of cinema all the year round.
